I don't know how long it will be before I can deal with short car-rides. Getting in and out of the car is seriously painful and (at this point, since I am still on The Precautions*) fraught with genuine peril. It exhausted me for half a day to ride home from the hospital last Saturday. I'd bet it'll be several weeks or so, though of course I hope it's a lot sooner than that. I'm going in for my followup with the surgeon next week, and we'll see what he says about The Precautions and how I'm doing.

Pie that does not have nuts in it or fruit with seeds in it (I am being extra-careful not to annoy the Crohn's disease at the moment) is DEFINITELY on my treat list. I have rather a longing for French Silk at the moment, now that Bakers Square has been mentioned. ;-)

*The Precautions are a set of rules about how I am not allowed to move, for fear of dislocating the new hip joint, which would mean doing the surgery all over again and starting from scratch. I am VERY attentive to The Precautions, believe you me. They make getting in and out of cars pretty tricky, though. (No sitting angle of less than 90 degrees, and be very careful anywhere above 80, in fact. No twisting the torso. No lifting or swinging the operated hip, and no pivoting that leg. No crossing the legs under any circumstances whatsover, and try not to even get anywhere in the neighborhood of it. Kinda tricky, paying attention to these all at once.)
