Bionic lioness: morning 3
Jul. 17th, 2009 10:56 amI am writing this from Elise's bedside, having a) gotten through this morning's excitement of PT, discussions with many and varied medical staff, and all sorts of other things and b) having gotten the guest wireless access to behave.
Elise is doing better today than yesterday, but the Crohn's flare is still a problem, restless leg syndrome is a really lousy combo with hip surgery, and so on and so forth. In PT, she got as far as sitting up for about 5 minutes, but had a lot of pain at certain points in the process. This is decided not fun, but she got as far as the PT folks wanted her to this morning, which is good.
As a result of all of this, it's looking more and more like she may need to go to a step-down rehab facility for a time (could be a couple of days, could be 10-14 days) for a bit before going home. (The goal with this is to get her able to take care of regular physical tasks at home - getting out of bed, going to the bathroom, making a little food, etc.) We were hoping to avoid this, but it seems like the needful thing. Coordination is on-going about those bits.

Date: 2009-07-17 05:14 pm (UTC)I'm pleased that the PT folks are satisfied with her post-surgical progress. I hope that the Crohn's can be brought back under control, because that can't be pleasant.
If it turns out that a brief stay in a rehab facility is the best thing, then I will hope for coordinating to work out.
Please tell the Bionic Lioness that I am thinking of her and wishing her well, and that -- if it can be managed without causing her any distress -- I would love to poke my head in and say hello when I'm in Minneapolis.

(or is that too weak a joke?)

Date: 2009-07-19 11:25 pm (UTC)Please add my good wishes to the others. I'm glad that things are slowly getting better, and hope that the getting better part will speed up and the Crohn's will go out of town and far away. I'd lure it, but I don't know what it likes.
Love to you both,
Pamela
