So, there is the interesting question of commodes. The ones they have here are 14" seat, with 18" from inner arm to inner arm. This is narrower than the lioness is in that measurement, especially since we do not want to pop the hip dressing off in the process. (Elise says: "You tell them that I was afraid they'd have to pop me like a cork the first time I sat down on one of those...")
Can some of you lovely people help us determine if there is something like a portable commode with a 20" width minimum (and 21" or 22" would be ideal.) A wider actual seat would be lovely too, but is less necessary than the arm width.
It does need to have arms (otherwise, Elise cannot sit or stand). By preference, no wheels, but if you find one that's otherwise perfect but has wheels, throw it in.
(Yes, we're all capable of doing research around here, but if someone has a desire to help, this is a thing that would be most helpful. Ideal format would be a list of options with basic measurements and a link.)

Date: 2009-07-19 12:37 pm (UTC)It's what I used on my home toilet after my knee replacements. With an elevated seat ( http://www.ncmedical.com/item_373.html ) it makes for a pleasant experience while you recover at home.
I recommend north coast medical and allegro medical websites for assistive technology.

Date: 2009-07-20 11:33 am (UTC)I'm sure you've already thought of this, oh external brain... but you know how my brain works: Do measure the space at home before ordering something. I know I've been in bathrooms that don't have much space around the toilet and you, of course, don't want to end up with something that can't be put in place!
